Privacy notice
Built to collect less.
Last updated: July 21, 2026
This notice explains how the BrightMinutes private pilot handles information. BrightMinutes is designed for a parent or guardian to configure and for a child ages 5–8 to use on a shared family device.
Information stored on your device
By default, BrightMinutes stores the selected age band, session length, learning focus, interest, parent-consent date, a one-way representation of the parent PIN, active-session state, completion history and skill progress in browser storage on the family’s device.
BrightMinutes does not ask for a child’s name, email address, exact birthday, photograph, location or voice recording. Spoken prompts use the device’s speech system; BrightMinutes does not record or upload the child’s voice.
Optional parent account and cloud backup
If a parent chooses cloud backup after it becomes available, BrightMinutes will process the parent’s email address, account identifier, settings and progress data. Child profile data remains limited to an age band, interests and learning progress. Cloud backup is optional, and the app remains usable without it.
Payments
If paid plans are offered, payments will be handled by a payment provider. BrightMinutes will receive subscription status and transaction references but will not receive or store full payment-card numbers.
Technical and product information
The hosting provider may process ordinary request information needed to deliver and protect the service, including IP address, browser type, request time and diagnostic logs. BrightMinutes may record limited first-party product events such as session started, completed, resumed, backed up or synchronized. These events exclude child names, free-form child text, recordings and advertising identifiers.
How information is used
- Deliver, recover and synchronize family sessions.
- Show parent-facing progress and weekly summaries.
- Protect parent-only controls.
- Diagnose failures, prevent abuse and improve reliability.
- Manage subscriptions if paid plans are introduced.
Sharing and advertising
BrightMinutes does not sell personal information, run behavioral advertising or build advertising profiles of children. Information may be processed by infrastructure, authentication and payment providers only as needed to operate the service, comply with law or protect users.
Retention and deletion
Device-local information remains until a parent clears site data or restores the app. The parent backup controls can export or replace the local progress record. Account holders will be able to request account and cloud-backup deletion before public accounts are enabled.
Parent choices
A parent can use BrightMinutes without creating a child account, decline optional cloud backup, export device-local progress, clear browser data and stop using the service. Parents should contact the person who invited them to the private pilot with access or deletion requests.
Security and changes
BrightMinutes uses reasonable technical safeguards, including HTTPS hosting, limited data collection and a hashed parent PIN. No system is perfectly secure. Material changes to this notice will be shown with a new update date.
This is a careful pilot notice, not a substitute for review by qualified privacy counsel before public release or collection of child-linked cloud data.
